CONSTITUTION OF THE LANSING HIGH SCHOOL
CHAPTER OF THE KAYETTES
ARTICLE I: Name
This association shall be known as the Lansing High School Kayettes, a local chapter of the Kansas Association for Youth.
ARTICLE II: Membership
Active membership in this association shall be open to all female students currently attending Lansing High School.
ARTICLE III: Officers
Section 1: The officers shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Director, Historian, and Point Director.
Section 2: The president and Vice President shall be upper-class members. The two other officers shall be chosen at large from any of the classes.
Section 3: The association may add or combine positions on the Cabinet, and it may add assistants for each of the directors.
ARTICLE IV: Meetings
Section 1: Regular weekly meetings shall be held by the Cabinet and the cabinet sponsors.
Section 2: The president or designated officer has the authority to eliminate weekly meetings as necessary.
Section 3: Monthly and special meetings of the Cabinet shall be called by the President with the approval of the sponsor.
ARTICLE V: Sponsors
Section 1: The local association shall be sponsored by one teacher or member of the community that is approved by the BOE.
Section 2: The sponsor(s) shall reserve the right to veto any motion passed by the officers and the Cabinet.
ARTICLE VI: Amendments to the Constitution
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote at any official meeting of the Cabinet.
ARTICLE VII: Membership
New members shall be admitted by the association at a time designated by said association. Membership fees shall be fixed by the Cabinet and may be increased/decreased upon yearly evaluation.
ARTICLE VIII: Duties of Officers
Section 1: The officers shall, at the time of election, be students in good standing as interpreted by the rules and regulations of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and Lansing High School, and shall conform to all local requirements for student officers.
Section 2: The officers and Cabinet shall have the powers granted by the Kansas Association for Youth Constitution.
ARTICLE IX: Elections
Section 1: Regulations governing elections shall be in accordance with the Kansas Association for Youth Constitution and all local school regulations.
Section 2: The cabinet reserves the authority to appoint potential cabinet members giving the president and vice-president the final decision.
ARTICLE X: Appointments
Section 1: All directors are elected yearly by the association, excluding the Vice President, who will assume the role of President upon the President’s retirement.
Section 2: The elections and officers shall be approved by the sponsor and be in accordance with school regulations.
ARTICLE XI: Parliamentary Authority
All business meetings of the association and the board of directors shall be governed by the parliamentary law set forth in Robert’s Rules of Order.
ARTICLE XII: Quorum
One half of the members of the local association shall constitute a quorum at any regular or special meeting.
ARTICLE XIII: Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote at any official meeting of the Cabinet
