Civics/Geography 9 -10 Grade 2009-10


This year is set up with Civics first semester and Geography second semester.
Description:
This course will examine the Democratic process with emphasis on citizenship, civic responsibility, and how to actively participate in the process. We will look into the 3 branches of government and the constitution. During the second semester we will have a three-week mini course on Personal Finance. This will be followed with geography where we will study physical and cultural geography. Specific areas studied will be the Middle East, Africa, Antarctica and Australia/New Zealand.
Objectives:
1. To apply knowledge and skills to life situations.
2. To develop multi cultural awareness with a global perspective.
3. To apply Democratic understanding and citizenship.
4. Interpret the past, apply this knowledge to the present, and prepare for the
future.
5. To promote study habits and study skills.
