Skyward for Assignments

Here are some tips to help you navigate Skyward in reference to assignment notification and teacher lesson plans -

Assignment Notification
--This can be done in two ways; by looking at the Gradebook or by looking at the Calendar.
--For the calendar feature, simply run your mouse over the assignment listing,
which is given on the day the assignment is due.
--For the gradebook feature, you must first click on the letter grade for the current quarter or semester. Once you have done that, you will get a listing of the assignments for that marking period. This will show you the assignments that have already been graded as well as upcoming assignments.

Teacher Lesson Plans
--These are available through the Calendar.
--In the calendar, you will see the initials "MC" with a colon and then a short description such as SS Plans, or Lit. Plans, etc. The "MC" stands for "Message Center". Please note that these are not visible through the actual "Message Center"...they are only available through the calendar.
--Teachers have been asked to either type in their lesson plans or to upload them as an attachment.

--There will also be several assignments that are available as attachments. We encourage you to check Skyward first when your child is absent or has lost an assignment. You may be able to get a copy of the assignment on Skyward.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

HAIR COLOR

On p. 21 of the LMS student agenda is the following statement, "Hair color that draws undue attention to the student will not be permitted." At numerous times we have had students come to school with dyed hair that does draw attention to the student. In a classroom setting with 25-30 students, this can be an issue that takes away from instruction and learning because it creates a distraction. We are trying to be proactive by asking for your help in this area. Please do not color your child's hair green, purple, blue, bright red, etc. during the school year. This would include coloring the whole head or just streaking parts of the hair. If your child does come to school with artificial hair color that draws attention, we will talk to you about washing it out or other means to return it to a natural color.

MORNING AND AFTERNOON PICKUP AND DROPOFF

Before School
Students should not arrive at Lansing Middle School before 7:35 AM unless it has been arranged with an administrator at LMS.
Students that are car riders should be dropped off on the east side of the building (football field side). The west side of the building (flag pole side) is where the busses drop off and pick up students. If you are dropping off a student at the elementary and then driving to the middle school, DO NOT stop on Bittersweet to drop off your child.
This is extremely dangerous to both the student and other drivers.

After School
ALL car pick-up needs to be done on the east side of the building. The busses pick up students on the west side of the building. DO NOT attempt to stop on Bittersweet to pick up your child. Once again, this is extremely dangerous. This is especially true after school because the bus traffic becomes more congested.
If you do not want to wait on the east side of the building, we recommend having your child walk to one of the nearby subdivisions to meet you.
