FBLA

How we came to be!

The Lansing High School chapter of FBLA started late in the fall of 2004, by Sue Lednicky. There were about 25 active members at the time. Officers from Pleasant Ridge High School's chapter took their time to come to Lansing and help explain what FBLA was all about. Starting late, they were unable to compete at the district level, so they observed what competitions they could. After districts, the engines gunned and the new chapter was fired up for the state competitions only two months away. Five members placed in four of the events, with one member qualifying to represent the state of Kansas at the National Leadership Conference: 2005, in Orlando, Florida, a.k.a. Disney World.

It has been just a little over a year since the chapter first began, and there are now 44 members.  We have had an excellent year.  Lansing placed several members at both the district and state levels, and has qualified four to compete at the national level in Nashville, Tennessee.

The beginning of the chapter's third year went off with a bang.  Stephen Fischer, Matt Humphreys, and Sean Wooley took 6th place in Business Ethics in Nashville.  The chapter has already participated in several fundraisers, and has recruited several new members. This is going to be a great year for Lansing High School FBLA!
