Dear Parents,
Welcome to Lansing Elementary School. My Name is Tim Newton and I am looking forward to another year as the principal at Lansing Elementary School. I have been the principal at Lansing Elementary School since 2002. Prior to coming to Lansing, I taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, and was an Assistant Principal in Junction City, Kansas from 1994 to 2002. Prior to my career in education, I served seven years in the United States Army and I am currently a Command Sergeants Major for 287th Sustainment Brigade headquartered in Wichita, Kansas with the Kansas Army National Guard. I am a graduate of Kansas State University (94, 97, and 02) and I reside in Lansing.
I am very proud to be the principal at Lansing Elementary School. Even though we are a large school with over 950 students, I make every effort to get to know each and every student and parent.
It is a special feeling when I see students entering the building because I know each of them will bring something special to our school. When you leave your children with us, they will be safe and cared for and offered a fun-filled and challenging experience in learning. I enjoy watching the classroom teachers perform their magic each and every year. The hard work of our teachers, staff, parents, and students have been acknowledged for the past two school years by earning the State Standard of Excellence in Reading and Mathematics on our state assessments.
There is also a strong sense of community and pride at our school. Parents and volunteers listen to students read, assist in the Accelerated Reader Program, shelve books in the library, assist teachers and students with class projects, and any other way one may need assistance. Being part of our family is priceless and I hope you and your family will join us.
I am confident that you and your children will enjoy Lansing Elementary School. Please feel free to contact me when you have questions, concerns, or suggestions. I can be reached at 913-727-1128 or by e-mail newtont@usd469.net
Sincerely,
Tim Newton
