APPLICATION FOR OUT OF DISTRICT STUDENTS

 

 

Students living outside district boundaries are welcome to apply to attend Lansing School District.  For School Year 2018-2019 we are accepting Out of District Applications for Grades 9-12. 

All nonresident students, returning and new, will be evaluated and therefore, admitted or denied depending on attendance, academic standing and/or discipline.  Consideration will also be based on teacher/student ratio in each building and/or grade level.

The deadline for all out of district applications is September 20th of the current school year.

Notices will be sent to the parents/guardians of the student(s) by mail.  The notification of approval or denial can be expected a few days after the Board meeting when the application was presented.

1:1 Technology Initiative

  

Lansing Public Schools focus on helping our students become 21st Century Learners and Leaders. The 1:1 initiative empowers students to engage in learning in many different ways. It expands resources available within our schools and provides differentiated learning and activities to support district curriculum. Lansing High School and Middle School are 1:1 iPad. Lansing Elementary School has the technology resources to include one device for every two students.

 

Lansing Schools also use iPods, Chromebooks, Laptops, Kindles, iPad Minis to name additional technology that is used within our district. SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS

 

The Lansing School District is accepting applications school bus drivers.  We are looking for applicants who are willing to be committed to safety and customer service.  Our school bus drivers must have a genuine, caring attitude for children. 

 

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Drivers must be no less than twenty-one years of age.

  • Experience preferred or will train.  K.A.R. 91-38-6 (d)(2)(A)
  • Drivers must hold a valid CDL license with a passenger endorsement (or be capable of acquiring).  K.A.R. 91-38-6 (a) (1), (2), and (3). USD 469 will train if necessary.
  • Drivers must be of good moral character.

 

REQUIREMENTS UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT

Drivers must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug test (no felony convictions involving another person, or any crime involving a child or any major traffic violations).  K.A.R. 91-38-6 (b)(1)(2) and (4)

  • Drivers must pass a DOT physical examination. K.A.R 91-38-6 (G)(1) and (2)
  • Drivers are required to attend all driver meetings as announced by the Director of Transportation.  K.A.R. 91-38-3)(c) (1),(2), (4) and (5)
  • Drivers must maintain current First Aid/CPR Certification or be capable of acquiring. K.A.R. 91-38-6 (d)(2)(B) and (C)
  • Drivers will attend a Vehicle Accident Prevention Course approved by KSDE as needed.  K.A.R 91-38-6(e)(1)

  • Messages can be posted from teachers, administrators, coaches, and sponsors on the message center and/or sent via email
