LANSING MIDDLE SCHOOL 509 w. IDA LANSING, KANSAS 66043 913-727-1197
Lansing Middle School is located in northeast Kansas just outside of the Kansas City metro area. There are approximately 2000 students in our District K-12. The Middle School has just over 500 students. Our enrollment is drawn from the local communities and nearby Ft. Leavenworth. Lansing Middle School holds grades 6-8. The building was opened in Jan. 1997 and was designed with the grade level team approach. Technology is a key component at the Middle School as the building was designed to be the technology center of the district. We are a model school for the Sprint Media Retrieval system which is integrated with the building LAN. We use the ParentLink system for voice mail and communication to and from home. There is a computer lab with 12 computers located in each grade level house and a computer in each classroom. Every computer has internet access through the LAN. Teachers and students are encouraged to make use of technology in their daily activities and work. Our building is used by the community on a regular basis for a variety of events and programs
Explorations in Technology is a popular program offered to all students where students explore up to 16 individual modules covering topics such as computer graphics, electronics, robotics, and drafting. The Family and Consumer Science (FACS) program is also set up the same way.
We offer a variety of programs at Lansing Middle School which the majority of students take part in. These programs include football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, vocal and instrumental music. We compete in interscholastic activivies in the Kaw Valley League.
