Lansing USD 469 serves the city of Lansing as well as surrounding rural areas that are included in the boundaries of the 42 square mile school district. Some of the Lansing school district encompasses parts of the city of Leavenworth. The city of Lansing has a population of 11,265 while the Lansing School system has an enrollment of approximately 2,600 students K-12. The district employs approximately 144 licensed teachers and 97 classified staff. The majority of our teachers have advanced degrees beyond a Bachelor degree.
The Lansing Schools operate an elementary building for grades K-5, a middle school for grades 6-8, and a high school for grades 9-12. The Board of Education's policies reflect the philosophy that Lansing Schools are designed and operated to meet the needs of all students enrolled to include their families, communities, and the larger social domain of life after school. Resident students are defined as living with a parent or legal guardian within the boundaries of the district. Non-resident students are considered for acceptance at Lansing Public Schools based on their prior attendance, academic achievements, and space availability.
